The Prosper Initiative

The Prosper Initiative is a dynamic training and consultancy asset based response to the current economic challenges. It is a partnership between Nurture Development and Doorley Consulting.

In March of this year the National Economic & Social Council (NESC) called for an integrated national response to the current crisis. The Council’s analysis suggests that Ireland faces not one but five closely-related crises: a banking crisis; a fiscal crisis; an economic crisis of competitiveness and job losses; a social crisis of unemployment, income loss and indebtedness; and a reputational crisis.

In responding to the social challenge, the Council note the crisis is already having significant social consequences and call for the adaptation of new measures that protect those now experiencing loss of employment, income, savings and pensions.

Prosper Initiative Training and Economic Development-Economic response Initiative

It is to this grim backdrop that Prosper bring the following innovative, yet evidence based, economic response offering to the market.  The programme is structured around ten proven interventions to unemployment around the globe. The Initiative is most effective in a village, town, or neighbourhood context, and is applicable to both urban and rural settings. The initiative has been developed following 10 years of extensive research, and has six distinct features:

  • All interventions are evidence based;
  • Each of the 10 sequential action steps of the programme are results orientated and measurable;
  • The programme adopts an Asset Based Community Development approach promoting the effective use of existing assets within a given community of residents and businesses to support job creation and economic renewal;
  • The programme focuses on mobilising these assets in a way that amplifies and multiplies economic and social opportunity;
  • The programme is catalytic in that we act as catalysts for social and economic development by supporting towns, villages and neighbourhoods to identify, connect and mobilise their asset for the maximum benefit of the community, as well as building capacity to leverage in additional resources as required;
  • Training programmes are designed specifically to respond either to tangible/demonstrable job opportunities or co-operative/entrepreneurial ventures with proven marketability.
